Wire Sculpture – Ruth Asawa, Friday
Friday – July 24 – 6:00-8:00pm
Description: Inspired by the life and work of Ruth Asawa, this hands-on sculpture class explores art as a practice of patience, curiosity, and connection. Asawa believed that everyday materials, careful observation, and repeated gestures could become powerful expressions of beauty and care. In this class, we’ll create delicate hanging sculptures using simple looping and shaping techniques, transforming line into form and emptiness into presence. No prior sculpture experience is needed—just a willingness to slow down, work with your hands, get a little messy, and create in community.
Featured Artist: Ruth Asawa, is of the belief that art is for everyone and that learning happens through doing. She was an American modernist artist known primarily for her abstract looped-wire sculptures inspired by natural and organic forms.
