Paper Marbling
Description: Explore the fascinating art of paper marbling in this workshop featuring both traditional European marbling and the Japanese technique of suminagashi, or “floating ink.” Participants will learn the history and unique characteristics of each method while discovering how color, movement, and water interact to create one-of-a-kind patterns. The class begins with an introduction to suminagashi, using ink and gentle breath or brush techniques to create delicate, flowing designs. Participants will then experiment with traditional paper marbling, using prepared paints and combing tools to produce bold, colorful patterns. Throughout the workshop, students will create a collection of beautifully marbled papers that can be used for bookmaking, greeting cards, collage, journals, or other creative projects. This class is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.
Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials.

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
