Description: In this class, we will make simple handmade books for journaling, scrapbooking, collaging, sketching, or giving as a gift. Each book is constructed of cardboard, fabric, and paper. Students will learn simple hand sewing skills that they will use to create and embellish a basic slip cover for their cardboard book cover and learn how to insert paper signatures (packets of pages). Pockets and pen holders can be added as time allows.

Parent Requirements: Upstairs – drop off & sign in all students; pick up and sign out all students; Parents are free to stay for the class to assist your child; parents will be called to pick up their child immediately if there is an attitude or discipline issue.

Materials Included: Sewing machines, fabrics and all necessary tools and materials

Instructor: Nathan Vincent

Nathan Vincent is a fiber artist who has exhibited his large-scale knit and crocheted sculptures and installations in museums and galleries internationally. He has shown off his artwork on Martha Stewart, in the pages of the New Yorker Magazine, the LA Times, as well as major fiber books and magazines. Nathan has always loved arts and crafts and learned to crochet from his mother when he was a youngster. He then went on to teach himself knitting, needlepoint, punch needle, needle felting and hand sewing. Nathan loves to teach others and share his passion for turning simple strands of yarn into beautiful works of art.

Location:

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.

Because we need time to fill vacant spots, there are no refunds with less than 48 hours notice.
