Intro to Lace Tatting

Description: Learn the basics of the intricate art of shuttle lace tatting. Participants will learn the history and techniques behind this traditional lace-making craft, using a small shuttle and thread to create beautiful knotted lace designs to make bookmarks, jewelry, lace trims, and other items. This relaxing and meditative craft encourages patience, precision, and creativity while connecting participants with a centuries-old textile tradition.

Materials Included: All materials, including Tatting Shuttle and Size 10 Crochet Thread.

Instructor: Mallory Keesler

Mallory is a lifelong crafter and historian with a passion for vintage crafts. While getting her history degree in medieval studies, Mallory fell in love with the history of textiles, and along the way picked up a number of traditional textile techniques dating from the Medieval period all the way to the Victorian era. Her specialty is Victorian parlour crafts and she is excited to share this bit of textile history with her students.

Location:

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
