“Hitozemashi” Sashiko Stitching
Beginners or intermediate in hand sewing or embroidery welcome.
Description: In this beginner level class we will learn about “Hitozemashi Sashiko”. This practice uses patterns created on a grid to form repeating motifs. You will be instructed in basic preparations for sashiko including prepping the fabric, stitching a border, and transferring a grid. Then you will be guided through the traditional hitomezashi stitch, as well as the Kikkō-Hanazashi (floral tortoiseshell) pattern, which adds on the woven stitch method called kugurisashi.
Materials Included: Fabric, thread, and all necessary tools.

She’s always looking for another skill to try out and another project to dive into!

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
