Family Art – Martinez Pottery

Family Art Project: Families will learn about Maria Martinez, the renowned Pueblo artist known for her distinctive black-on-black pottery and innovative firing techniques. Participants will explore the traditional patterns, symbols, and craftsmanship that made her work internationally celebrated, then create their own clay-inspired art using air-dry clay or other accessible materials. The project encourages creativity, cultural appreciation, and hands-on learning while introducing families to the rich artistic traditions of Pueblo pottery and the importance of preserving Indigenous arts.

Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials.

Parent Requirements: Upstairs – drop off & sign in all students; pick up and sign out all students; Parents are free to stay for the class to assist your child; parents will be called to pick up their child immediately if there is an attitude or discipline issue.

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
