Family Art – Jacob Lawrence, Saturday

Featured Artist: Jacob Lawrence began his painting career by making designs, but gradually began to paint street scenes reflecting the busy life around him. He expanded his view to tell the history of the African-American in America by highlighting social injustice, which motivated reform. His style used no depth or details and he used pure colors. All of his pictures tell a story.
Description: Using a variety of brightly colored paints, participants will design and paint a folk art style scene depicting the people and places in their lives.
Skill Building: Learning to design and execute a painting in the folk art style; Introducing the Primary Color Wheel and color mixing
Materials Included: All necessary tools and materials.
Parent Requirements: Upstairs – drop off & sign in all students; pick up and sign out all students; Parents are free to stay for the class to assist your child; parents will be called to pick up their child immediately if there is an attitude or discipline issue.

All classes take place UPSTAIRS in our CREATIVE SPACE unless otherwise noted. Use the exterior stairs on the side of the building to enter.
